A quick history:     Back to G-1: Review A-II      Main Page

This is my first Grapple toy and I bought it on Mar.. Xviii, Mmii.  I got him from Ebay for $LXXXIX and it's MISB too.  I didn't even wait for the auction to end, so I chose the buy now selection.  I figured if I wait until it ended, it probably cost me more with all those bidders.  Furthermore, I think it was a "reasonable price" because it was half the conventional edition.  Yes the conventional comes with Inferno but I would have to pay double that price.

Affiliate: autobots | Subgroup: none | Function: architect | Alt. Mode: crane |

Grapple's motto and tech specifications:

| STR 8 | INTL 8 | SPD 3 | ENDN 4 | RNK 7 | CRG 7 | FRPW 7 | SKL 9 |

"Beauty is in everything except war."

On Cybertron, his buildings are considered works of art...on Earth, his ideas are limited by war.  Takes pride in his work, prone to severe depression if they're destroyed in battle.  As crane, can lift up to 35-ton object and position it with precision and grace.  As robot has high-temperature arc-welder rifle...can launch rockets 4.5 miles from wrist sockets.  Prone to breakdowns in vehicle mode.

R-1 Grapple in its Original condition:

g1grappleorig.jpg (68491 bytes)1 - Grapple in its brand new condition from the box.  This is a Japanese version and it is exactly 100% as the American version (same size, material, style, color, texture etc.).  The only difference is that the instruction and box is written in Japanese.

2 - The back of the box shows the 1984 Battle Scene box art.

3 - Here's how the content looks once the box was removed.

4 - These are all the contents that were included in the box/ package/ card: "1" crane truck, "1" gun, "2" hands, " 3" missiles, "1" Grapple trading card, "1" instruction sheet, "1" sticker sheet, and "2" miscellaneous text  sheet.

R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers:

There are 3 Pre-Applied sticker that had been applied onto Grapple.  The first two are located on either side of his rear Crane truck just above the wheel.  It's his trademark construction logo sticker.  The last pre-applied sticker is the Autobot Rub Sign logo located on top of his cab roof.

Sticker Sheet:

There are 12 registered numbering of stickers on the sticker sheet.  But in reality it's actually 14 stickers since some of the repeat stickers are labeled as one instead of two.  These registering numbering do not include the Pre-applied stickers.

R-3 Grapple in Vehicle Mode - Crane

g1grappleveh1.jpg (62957 bytes)In crane truck mode, Grapple connection is very secure within each members of its pieces.  The rubber tire wheels also make him roll very smoothly on flat surface.  In addition, his crane hook can be extended out twice of his size for more of playing value (lower right corner).  Other note, Grapple weight is very light because he only has a very thin layer of die cast metal which located beneath his feet.

R-4 Grapple in Robot Mode

g1grapplerob1.jpg (67819 bytes)In robot mode Grapple looks pretty much like his cartoon counterpart.  Grapple arms are loaded with spring so if you inserted his hands or missile/ hose, it can be fired out..  Unfortunately, this feature can be a disadvantage because at time, the hands or missiles tend to shoot by itself especially in the long run.  Grapple comes with both hand so if you don't like having a missile/ hose on the other arm, you can replace it with the correct hand.  For your personal information, Grapple missile/ hose should be inserted onto his left arm socket, not right arm socket like Inferno.
