A quick history:       Back to G-1: Review A-II      Main Page

This is my first Hot Rod toy.  I bought on Apr. Xvi, Mmi and it cost me about $XLV.  Thank God they re-issued him again because back in the old day there was no way I could afford him.  So now, he's part of my toy collection.

"My actions speak louder than words."

Hot Rod is an all-American-boy Autobot.  He's a typical adolescent who dreams of being heroic and important.  He tends to follow rules too closely.  Althought he means well, Hot Rod's impulsive actions often get him into trouble.  He carries two photon lasers that temporarily electromagnetize an enemy robot's microcircuits.  Speed:1200 mph. Range;4 miles.  He can be hot-headed, but he's always a well meaning, admirable lad and a brave and honrable fighter.

R-1 Hot Rod in its Original condition:

g1hotrodorig.jpg (91655 bytes)1  - Here's Hot Rod in its original box, this is the Japanese version which is the same as the American version.  The only different is the box and instruction which is written in Japanese.

2  - The back of the box shows the 1986 Battle Scene box art.

3 - These are all the contents that were included in the box/ package/ card: "1" futuristic sport car, "2" guns, "1" Hot Rod trading card, "1" stickers sheet, "1" instruction sheet, and "1" miscellaneous text sheet.

R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers:

There are two Pre-Applied sticker that had been applied onto Hot Rod.  The first one is located on the front hood of the car.  It's a yellow and orange decal with the Autobot insignia.  The second one is the Autobot Rub Sign logo, located on top of his car roof.

Sticker Sheet:

DecalHotRod.jpg (47726 bytes)There are 7 registered numbering of stickers on the sticker sheet.  These registering numbering do not include the Pre-applied stickers.

R-3 Hot Rod in Vehicle mode:

g1hotrodveh1.jpg (53819 bytes)Hot Rod's futuristic sport car definitely looks hot in both the toy and the cartoon.  In addition, either one of his weapons can be mounted onto his car hood engine to create a battle mode sport, right corner image.  The interior car detail was done nicely too since you can see that mimic leather seat.  Too bad, his car roof doesn't open to allow passenger in like the cartoon, then that would make this car the bomb.

R-4 Hot Rod in Robot mode:

g1hotrodrob1.jpg (60738 bytes)In robot mode, Hot Rod looks great from the frontal view as well as cartoon accurate too.  On the other hands, the side view is very disturbing since it basically hollow.  Hot Rod comes with two weapons which gives him that cowboy look despites none of those weapons were ever shown in the Transformers the Movie and maybe in the regular cartoon series too.  Hot Rod biggest weakness is articulation since his toy has the potential to do it but the designer didn't give him one.
