A quick comment:    Back to Reneades Review Page      Gobots Homepage

This is my first Spoons action figure.  As a kid I had always wanted to own him but just didn't have the finance to purchase it.  Now I'm glad to have him as part of my collection.  I got him on July Iii, Mmiv for $XV.L from Ebay

Unfortunately the Gobots action figure doesn't come with any motto or tech & spec like the Transformers action figure.

NOTE-1: This review page is meant to give you some ideas about the figure should you decide to obtain one, or even just for nostalgic or sentimental purposes.  They're just my opinion and I hold no responsibility for your action.  If you have questions about this review or if there's a section or image that owned by you and I didn't give you credit, please click email from the main page.  I'll make the correction once I receive your info.  Have fun.

2 - This is the back of the card.

3 - These are all the contents that were included in the box/ package/ card:  "1" fork lifter.

R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers:

Spoons came with 4 pre-applied sticker.  One on the chest, one on the waist, and one on either side of his arm.

Sticker Sheet:

Unlike the Transformers, none of the Gobots action figure come with sticker sheet.

R-3 Spoons in Vehicle Mode:

spoonveh.jpg (39530 bytes)In vehicle mode, Spoons is a fork lifter whose measurement is approximately  3 1/16 x 1 10/16 x 1 3/4 (LxWxD).  Why he was called spoons, that's beyond me.  But then again, many of the Gobots have some of the most absurd names i.g. Screw Head, Tic Tac, Pocket, Traitor etc.  The chrome fork can be folded up or down while the front fork base can also be raised up or down just like the real thing when picking object.

R-4 Spoons in Robot Mode:

spoonrobot.jpg (52223 bytes)Spoons is one of the very few Gobots to resemble some of The Transformers characteristic styles.  He is bulky, blocky, jointed leg, has real head (in contrast to Fitor or Coptor), and he looks cool in both mode.  Spoons transformation is also very unique just like The Transformers.  Other than the limited articulation, Spoons has no negative drawback.

R-5 Spoons' Card Art:

GobotsBAspoon.jpg (55149 bytes)Here's a closed up shot image of Spoons original card art.  I usually don't include box/card art in my review but because the Gobots card arts are so rare and hardly any website has them, I decided to put into this review.  Unfortunately, almost all the Gobots' card art are cut off due to the bad presentation or arrangement on the card.  It is nearly impossible to find these Gobots Card Arts in any other medium or merchandize as way to get complete drawing since these Gobots arts hardly get produced into other format.  So the only thing we can do as Gobotron fans, is tried to fix these card arts by ourselves.

Stability: [+C] - Above average.

Fun Figure: [B] - Could be a little bit more fun if this toy come with weapon.  But then again, Gobots action figure hardly come with any weapon.

Negative Drawback - None.

Articulations: Head: Cannot be rotated. Shoulder: Can be swung at a 360 degree angle. Arm/ Elbow: Cannot be bent.  Wrist/ Hand: Cannot be bent.  Hip/ Waist: Cannot be rotated.   Leg: Cannot be bent.   Knee: Cannot be bent.  Ankle/ Feet: Cannot be bent or rotated sideway.

Robot's Cartoon looks alike: [A] - Definitely looks like the cartoon

Vehicle's Cartoon looks alike: [A] - Same as previous comment.

Special Notes: Here's "1" special note which I think you should know:

1 - Due to the die cast metal on the upper body and the style of transformation, in time, Leader-1 will suffer the compression leg syndrome.  In other word, Leader-1 leg will shrink down and bury into his feet which will make him look shorter.  If you want to avoid the problem, then leave him in vehicle mode.

Overall Grade: [+A] - Like so many of the other Gobots action figures, Spoons also falls into this category whose action figures look even hotter than its cartoon counterpart.  It's a shame that the Gobots action figures are so under rated when compared to the Transformers when in reality these Gobots look a lot better.
