After getting the Pulsating Light AM Radio Ultra Magnus head, I thought this was the perfect time to get the Computer Speaker as a companion to one another. It arrived to me on Jul. Xix, Mmxi from BBTS and cost me $XLIX.XCIX.

R-1 Ultra Magnus Computer Speaker in its Original Condition:
R-2 Ultra Magnus Computer Speaker:
With the release of Ultra Magnus Computer Speaker head in 2009 licensed to Miracle Plus LTD, we now have a completion of the Ultra Magnus "giant head" in both form that is the robot cab version and the 1985 armor head version, see R-5. Of course, this Magnus robot cab head existing was possible since it was only a repaint of the Optimus Prime Computer Speaker. The computer speaker head itself measures approximately 6 1/4 x 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 (LxWxD in inch). Its material is pretty much an all plastic with a translucent part only in the eyes. As for colors, it is mainly bone white all around the head and neck, blue-teal on the forehead and mouth plate, orange-red for the eyes, and a light gray on the face around the eyes. Since Magnus head is predominately white as in bone white, keep him out of direct sunlight. I can assure that white plastic will be turning yellow soon. Moving downward, the hollow rectangle base along with its trapezoid sloping has a light gray paint all around. In addition, the front panel of the base is written in traditional Transformers logo "THE TRANSFORMERS MORE THEN MEETS THE EYE".
Magnus computer speaker head actually feels light and fragile especially the tip of the ears, or maybe that it's just my imagination. The head looks much, much, better when viewing from a distance than closed up. Due to the ear flaps have the ability to open out, the downside is, you can easily tell where the two parts were cut or broken up. In other words, the head doesn't look continuous or one piece, but instead, it's like it has layer. Overall, the head is sculpted or molded nicely and very detail as well.
R-3 Ultra Magnus Computer Speaker - Revealing the Speaker:
Unless you look at the back, one would not guess it's a computer speaker. To reveal the little holes of the speaker, simply pull the side of his face or ear flap on both side. The flaps only swing out to 90 degree and increase its length from 4 1/2 to 9 1/2 inch. This is the only moving part of the entire computer speaker. My only complaint about the flaps is the connection which use a hook like mechanism to lock itself. Over time, this will be the first area to break then your Magnus ears would be wobbling back and forth. Other than the ear flaps, the rest of Magnus head or neck has no movement. The picture on the right are additional view of the Magnus computer speaker, left to right: Bottom view of the base and top view of the speaker in both the closing and opening position of the ear flaps.
R-4 Ultra Magnus Computer Speaker - Powered Up the Speaker w/ Lighted Up Eyes:
To turn on the unit, we need to make the connection first. Rotate the back of Magnus rear facing you, then plug one end of the 3.5MM Stereo male to male cable to a green circular marked up on Magnus head and the end to your laptop. Next, take the USB 2.0 type A to type B mini cable and plug the Type B mini head into Magnus while the larger USB head goes into the laptop. For the last step, press the power bottom and turn the volume knob to adjust the sound.
If you plug it right and the unit is not defected, you should hear sound and see Magnus eyes lighted up. The speaker will work regardless the ear flaps are in the closed or opened position. Of course the sound will sound much, much better in the opened position since that was the intention of the design. The back box advertised Magnus speaker is equipped with a 2.0 Channel Speaker with 3-D Sound Effect. I'm no sound expert, so I'm only concerned whether I hear sound or not. Overall, it sounds loud enough and okay. As per instruction pamphlet besides the Laptop and PC Computer, Magnus computer speaker can be used with MP3 (Ipod) or CD player. Yeah, unless your MP3 or CD Player has a built in USB power port, this speaker head is useless. I would've preferred the outlet plug over the USB for versatility purpose.
R-5 Scale Comparison with Others:
Heads, heads, yes there are many heads of Ultra Magnus, from the regular action figures to a working radio, to speaker, to statue. All these differences, should you give some ideas about the scale of each figure.
row - G1 Pre-Movie/ Diaclone regular head, Heero WST Ultra Magnus head (Diaclone,
Shining, Black, Glow-In-Dark, Regular), Regular G1 head, MP-2, Igear PP01U
Ultra Leader head for Regular and Animated, Igear H02 for MP-2.
another scale comparison among the 3 big heads with the regular G1 Ultra Magnus action figure.
R-6 Part of a Whole - With 1 Meter Speaker Tower:
If you thought the Ultra Magnus head is limited to only being a computer speaker head and body-less, then you are in a big surprise! Miracle Plus LTD sold the Ultra Magnus Computer Speaker in two formats. The first one is affordable and cheap but only came with the USB Computer Speaker Head as seen in R-0 to R-5. A second version which had both head and body is called G1 Ultra Magnus 1 Meter Speaker Tower w/ USB Computer Speaker Head. Its price is $400+ depending which website you purchase it from. However, BigBadToyStore did have it at $250 during its clearance sale but now it's all sold out. The entire figure stands 3 feet (1 meter ) tall and comes with a black gun as well. For those that wonder whether he can transform or not, the answer is no.
Many special thanks to Adorkable-One of Deviantart who is also an Ultra Magnus fan for her exquisitely photographing skill and providing the 2 images on the left of the huge Ultra Magnus in this R-6 section so everyone can see what he really looks like. I love the angle of the 1st photograph how she made Ultra Magnus 1 Meter Speaker Tower looks as though he's a giant statue when standing next to MP-2 Magnus.

1 - Ultra Magnus eyes light up once you hook up the USB cable and then press down the power button. Make sure yours is in working condition.
2 - In order to use the speaker, be sure you have the two cables: 3.5MM Stereo male to male cable and a USB 2.0 type A to type B mini cable, see A-4 for pic.
Overall Grade: [B] - The speaker itself is decent, so unless you're an Ultra Magnus fan, there's no urgency in getting this..
