A quick comment:
Until the release of Earth Commander, I really didn't pay much attention to Junkion Blacksmith works. Personally, I thought they did an excellent job with the JB Headmaster/ Triple Changer Series. I got it for XVIII.LXIX from Ebay on Mar. V, Mmxii.

R-1 JB-03 Earth Commander in its Original condition:
R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers:
Junkion Blacksmith Earth Commander does not come with any Pre-applied sticker/ decals adhered to the toy itself like the G1 line. Instead, the entire action figure contain colored mold and some paint applications.
R-3 JB-03 Earth Commander - Arm Assembled Incorrectly:
Earth Commander JB-03 is the 3rd figure to be released in the JB Headmaster/ Triple Changer Series by Junkion Blacksmith. It is a 3rd party/ unofficial product in contrast to the official Transformers G1 Ultra Magnus. Before I get to the review itself, I don't know if this happens to only a few batches or all of them are like that but base on mine and other reviewers, we noticed JB-03 Earth Commander arms were assembled wrong. Fortunately, the remedy is easy to correct it. If yours Earth Commander lower hand has the wheel facing the front, then you need to pop the two arms off, reverse and flip it, and that will solve the problem. The best method to pop the arm out is to move the arm upright or parallel to the ground, then push sideway out.
R-4 JB-03 Earth Commander - Robot Mode:
Once the arms are swapped and oriented correctly, Earth Commander is one beautiful figure. This figure is very solid, well balance and the proportion looks good too. Although no piece is popping off here and there, but I thought the knee joint is slightly loose. Also, standing requires a very even surface due to his tiny feet which cause the entire figure to fall down easily. Earth Commander stands about 2 inch tall, its material is all plastic, and some of the area are painted. The level of detail are utterly superb especially the lower leg shin which is painted in silver paint with black vent. Going upward, the torso has red vertical bars, some yellow headlights like, and silver grill at the tummy. On the head, he has silver accent on the forehead and above the eyes, silver face, and yellow eye. Most of his body parts are predominately blue with a small gray at the thigh, another small amount of silver paint for the truck smoke stack, and lastly a black paint on the wheels.
R-5 Articulation Showing Off:
For its small size, Earth Commander has some nice articulation when compares to its G1 Transformers counterpart of the 80s. He can move his shoulder up or down, leg can either bend or do a full split, and knee can bend as well. Unfortunately, the head, elbow, and waist have no movement. For more on articulation see R-11.
R-6 JB-03 Earth Commander - Vehicle Mode:
Earth Commander transforms into a cab of truck and has a measures approximately 1 5/16 x 14/16 x 1 (LxWxD in inch). Going from robot mode to vehicle mode is extremely easy. First pop off the shoulder missile launcher and straighten the arm down. Next, push the head down to hide it. Lastly, bend the entire leg 90 degree backward to complete the transformation. Does it looks like a truck, yes, but is it convincing? Of course not especially when the front side of the truck has no element of the truck but mainly shows robot body parts, top left corner. Despites this, I think the truck mode is okay. In addition, it does add more playing value. Regardless anyone likes the truck or not, Junkion Blacksmith deserves some credits for its creativity by make it more interesting.
R-7 JB-03 Earth Commander - Head Mode - Head On:
Earth Commander final and prominent alternated mode is a headmaster. Since we last left off in truck mode, to go headmaster mode, start off with swinging the leg 90 degree downward. Rotate the lower leg at 180 degree so its back side facing the robot chest, now fold the leg up. Next, with ear antenna facing you and upward, just flip up the forehead to reveal the rest of the face to finish the transformation. JB-03 Earth Commander head is compatible to any of the 1987 G1 headmaster figure. Unfortunately, I don't own any of the G1 headmaster figure so I cannot demonstrate this feature. In order to anchor JB-03 head to the G1 headmaster body, you will need to push a notch behind JB-03 forehead plate and that will push down the anchoring piece which also happens to be the smaller face of Earth Commander (left image - last head). When complete it, the head measures approximately 1 1/4 x 14/16 x 1 1/8 (LxWxD in inch).
R-8 JB-03 Earth Commander Connector #1 - Connecting to other JB Headmaster/Tripple Changer figures:
When are those 2 connectors from R-1 come into play you ask? Surprisingly, JB-03 Earth Commander head doesn't just end connecting with the smaller 1987 G1 Headmaster figures. In this R-8 section, we will focus on the smaller connector which has 2 teeth-like pegs on either side of its face. All JB-Headmaster/Triple Changer Series come with this smaller connector. This particular connector is to be used when connecting between two JB-Headmaster/Triple Changer Series. In other words, one JB figure forms the body and the 2nd JB figure will form the head. This crisscross pollination is really cool when you started to mishmash between Autobot and Decepticon. Picture on the left is an example of this crisscross pollination between JB-02 Tactical Officer (Soundwave) and JB-03 Earth Commander. The result is like a figure with bobble head or SD head. Again, big applause for Junkion Blacksmith for this concept and more playing value.
R-9 JB-03 Earth Commander Connector #2 - Connecting to G1 Powermaster Optimus Prime:
A second connector which is twice the size of connector 1 (R-8) has a rectangle shape and a round peg protrude out. It was designed specifically to be used with Powermaster Optimus Prime/ God Ginrai. To start it off, just push Earth Commander little head back to its socket then connect this larger connector to JB-3 large head. Next, unplug Powermaster Optimus Prime head and replace it with JB-03 head to make it as Powermaster Earth Commander/ Ultra Magnus!
NOTE-2: Not all JB Headmaster Series come with a second connector and not all of them are the same so don't loose it.

Special Notes: Here are "3" special notes that I think you should know:
1 - Some of the JB-3 Earth Commander arms were assembled wrong from factory with the wheel facing upfront when it should be facing to the rear. If that's the case, just pop it off and reconfigure it, see R-3
2 - Make sure yours come with the 2 small connectors. The larger connector is used for connecting JB-3 head to Powermaster Prime (R-9) while the smaller connector with 2 pegs on either side is for connecting to other JB figures (R-8)
3 - JB-3 missile launchers are detachable so keep an eye on them.
Overall Grade: [A] - Junkion Blacksmith did a wonderful job with Earth Commander in capturing most of G1 Ultra Magnus characteristic elements. Also, making him as a triple changer is even a plus! I also love its multiple usage such as connecting to Powermaster Prime, Headmaster figures, and connecting to other JB figures.
