A quick comment:      Back to Review A-I     Back to Ultra Magnus Homepage

I had always wanted to get the 1986 Ultra Magnus folder for sometimes but never got a chance to get one until now.   Other than for sentimental purpose, this folder wouldn't be used for anything else.  I got it on Ebay for 99 cent with 5.45 shipping and it arrived to me on Aug Ix, Mmxi.

Ultra Magnus Bust Box Inscription's Bio:

It was Ultra Magnus who was chosen to next lead the Autobots after Optimus Prime fall at The Battle for Autobot City.  Ultra Magnus' combination of courage, skill and compassion made him an ideal commander, though he felt increasingly uncomfortable with the mantle of leadership.  When the young Autobot Hot Rod received the Matrix of Leadership and became Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus continued to serve faithfully at his side as he did Optimus Prime before him.  When the young Autobot Hot Rod received the Matrix of Leadership and became Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus continued to serve faithfully at his side as Commander of Autobot City.  Ultra Magnus is a consummate soldier whose greatest weakness is his lack of faith in himself, though his dedication to the mission rarely allows this falling to affect him in combat.

R-1 1986 Ultra Magnus Folder:

magnusfolderall1.jpg (115413 bytes)This 1986 Ultra Magnus folder is getting rarer and harder to find each day on Ebay and almost impossible to even available at website or retail store.  It was manufactured by Beatrice/ Hunt Wesson.  I do not know how many folders were made or which Transformer character was lucky enough to get endorsed and debuted themselves on the folder other than Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, Wreck-Gar, and Gavlatron.  The folder itself is approximately 9 x 12 x 1/16 (LxWxD in inch) and its material is just your typical paper folder.  Is is glossy?  I would say a little bit not by much.  In term of image, the front of the folder has Ultra Magnus in robot mode while the back is reserved for his alternated mode.  There is a minor contradiction between the two forms because Ultra Magnus  robot mode was drawn based on the cartoon while the vehicle mode was more of a slight hybrid.  I say slightly hybrid because the missile launchers were drawn on the front of the trailer like the G1 toy and not on the side of the trailer like the cartoon.  Other than this, the rest of vehicle mode is base on the cartoon you can see they even nitpicky by coloring the front bumper in red.  Rarely do you see Ultra Magnus front cab bumper colored in red other than the cartoon.  In each image, the background had a simple and tranquil space which features red sky, stars, the word Transformers on the upper left hand corner, and the character name near mid way by the right side of the folder.  This same format is used for all the other characters that got their own folder.  The only difference is the color of the sky and space varied a little bit.

Ultra_Magnus_on_computer2.jpg (267741 bytes)Here's a larger scale internet image of Ultra Magnus without the background drawn up by a fan to micmic the 1986 folder.  Everything pretty much match up I must say.  But if you look very carefully, I think the face is just slightly chubbier than the original.

R-2 1986 Ultra Magnus Folder - Opened Position:

magnusfolderall2.jpg (53392 bytes)When you opened the folder up, you'll find the two pocket flaps are just plain with only red sky and stars but no image of Ultra Magnus.  Each pocket flap has a measurement of 4 x 8 15/16 (LxW in inch) while the entire length of the folder expand out from 9 to 18 inch.  The entire inner side of folder is all white.  Image on the left show both the inner and outer the 1986 Ultra Magnus folder.
