U.S. Name: ULTRA MAGNUS (WST - Heerotoymakers Version) Jap. Name: SAME
Cartoon First Appearance: T.F. The Movie - Aug. 8, 1986
Toy Catalog Number: N/A
Although I have seen the 2004 and 2010 Wonder Festival of World Smallest Transformers (WST) Ultra Magnus pictures and video reviews from the internet, it really looked inferior when compared to the Heerotoysmaker version. Heerotoysmaker WST Ultra Magnus offers high level of details, quality, very accurate to the original 1986 Ultra Magnus, and it's a must have. In the end, I managed to get 5 out 7 of Heero WST Ultra Magnus: All Black in Aug. Xx, Mmx for $LX, Glow-in-Dark in Sept. Xviii, Mmx for $XXX, Regular in Oct. I, Mmx for $XLV, Shining in Nov. Viii, Mmx for $LIV, and the Diaclone in Nov. Xxii, Mmx for $LIV. In an exception to the All Black Version, the other 4 figures were purchased directly from Heero himself via Ebay.

R-1 Heerotoysmaker WST G1 Ultra Magnus in its Original condition:
R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers:
All of Heerotoysmaker WST Ultra Magnus come with 2 Pre-Applied tampographs. The two tampographs are the Autobot insigina located at the side of the cab. However, only the All Black version has additional pre-applied green Autobots sticker located on top of the cab roof to mimic the real rubsign.
NOTE-2: The Glow-in-Dark version does not come with a sticker sheet.
R-3 Heerotoysmaker WST G1 Ultra Magnus - Contents & Accessories For Each Version:
R-4 Heerotoysmaker WST G1 Ultra Magnus - Cab Mode:
The first impression when looking at Heerotoysmaker Magnus cab is that it's an exact replica of the 2004 Takara WST Magnus chase figure since the cab measures approximately 13/15 X 2 1/8 X 1 1/8 (LxWxD in inch). This will change once you try the Ultra form for the two cabs. But otherwise, everything from scale, to detail, and material are pretty much identical. For material, it's all plastic including the wheels and this go for the trailer as well. Color, the white on Heero WST Magnus cab is not a true white or the same as Takara Magnus. Instead it's more of a light lavender or bluish white. By itself, the color of the cab itself is okay. But when you put it next to the trailer, the two whites really show some contrasts in color with one another, see R-5 and R-6. All the white color on the trailer including the arm joint and feet ramp panels have the same white shade as the Takara Magnus cab. On overall, the figure is great.
According to Heerotoysmaker earlier Ebay ads, the All Black Version were made only 180 pieces and will not remake again once all were sold. Only time will tell if that hold up. Anyhow, when observing carefully, the All Black version smokestack is hollowed inside while the rest of the Heero WST Magnus figures are filled in or fully solid just like the Takara Magnus. Furthermore, the All Black comes with the additional Autobots green sticker on the top of cab to mimic the rubsign.
R-5 Heerotoysmaker WST G1 Ultra Magnus - Robot Magnus Mode:
In Magnus robot mode, each Heero WST Magnus head has the same paint application as their bigger counterpart like the Takara/Tomy Regular, Diaclone, and Shining Version. For the Glow-in-Dark version, there is no paint application. On the All Black Version, the eyes are red with silver forehead and mouth plate. Articulations and transformation on the Heero WST Magnus are all the same as Takara Magnus. The only main different is that the Heero WST Magnus hands have hole so the gun can can be held as oppose to the gun clamps onto the hand like the Takara WST Magnus.
R-6 Heerotoysmaker WST G1 Ultra Magnus - Car Carrier Mode:
In car carrier mode, Heero WST Ultra Magnus measures approximately 4 13/16 x 1 10/16 x 2 (LxWxD in inch). One first look and you'll be amazed at the quality and high level of details especially for a World Smallest Transformers line. And this comes from a 3rd party company or unofficial product. In this form, the trailer is tightly connected, stable, an no flimsy stuff. Well done by the designer. In the original 1986 G1 Ultra Magnus, the top ramp (arm) at the rears are held up by a folding white tab. But for Heero WST Ultra Magnus, this white tab is a false tab and painted to look the real one. As alternative, the top ramp/arm of the WST Ultra Magnus has a teeny tiny tab at the lower portion of the arm that extends out and goes into a groove of the blue vertical panel (feet) of the trailer on either side. Moving toward the front, the red missile and the white launcher are molded as one piece so it will not fire out like the regular large version. This is understandable due to its small size.
NOTE-4: If Heero WST Ultra Magnus lower legs are constantly collapsing or folding by itself whether robot mode or vehicle mode, be sure the slider lock mechanism at the underside is move toward their correct location
R-7 Lost Transformation and Details Images:
In continuation from R-5, Heero WST Ultra Magnus has a workable ramp just like the regular version. Also, it does have small tab on each ramp to lock in place from fall down so don't over use it. These tabs are very thin so don't over use it to avoid breaking it. Since the Heero WST Magnus cab is almost the same as Takara WST Magnus, you can pretty much swab the two cabs just for this mode only, top right image. Notice the two cabs have a different shade of white, Heero WST Ultra Magnus is the truncate one at top left image. Personally, the white on Takara Magnus matches well with the trailer than the Heero cab version. Last but not least, in the Diaclone Line, Powered Convoy has additional gimmick where the large head and chest can be merged with one another to form a space shutter for the Diaclone driver to sit in. This lost transformation was not officially carried into the G1 Ultra Magnus character. I brought this up because I'm surprise that the Heero All Black Ultra Magnus head and chest plate has the ability to combine too. Well, not 100% smooth connection but it works, so you have to tilt the head a little bit. I also tried onto the regular version and it was even tighter so I put a little bit force into it which I regretted it later, bottom right image.
NOTE-5: Don't try connecting Ultra Magnus large head onto the chest plate. You will get stress mark like on mine or may even damage it.
R-8 Heerotoysmaker WST G1 Ultra Magnus - Robot Mode:
Now the moment you have been waiting for, Heero WST in the Ultra Magnus robot form! The figure is absolutely gorgeous and even more spectacular once you put all the stickers on. You'll get a goose bump especially when it looks so much like the original 1986 G1 Ultra Magnus. All joints and connections fall into their place properly. Paint application as an overall figure is good. Just by looking at the picture on the frontal view and not taking your regular G1 Ultra Magnus as a reference, you'll have a hard time distinguishing whether this is a WST Line or the real one. The quality and detail on Heero WST Ultra Magnus is much, much, better than the 2004 and 2010 Wonderfest WST Ultra Magnus in which you have to assemble a portion of the figure by yourself. Heero WST Ultra Magnus stands roughly about 3 15/16" to the head and 4 1/8" to the top of his shoulder post. For argument sake, we'll say he 4". The original 1986 Ultra Magnus on the other hands is 9 1/8", so Heero WST Ultra Magnus is roughly 5 inch shorter. Heero WST Ultra Magnus has the same articulation and connection as the original 1986 Ultra Magnus. Basically only the shoulder and the ball joint elbow have movement, the rest is fixed. No, there is no ratchet or clicking joint sound like regular version. For the good news, Heero WST Ultra Magnus rocket launcher is aligned evenly between the left and right shoulder. As you recalled, the rocket launcher mounted at the left shoulder on the original 1986 Ultra Magnus is slightly higher than the right shoulder. Well, this is not the case for all of Heero WST Ultra Magnus. On the right image with all the different Heero WST Ultra Magnus as a comparison, I just didn't want to put sticker for the Diaclone, Shining, and Black Version. Hopefully, the Regular Version with all the stickers already applied would be sufficed as to what the others may look like in the end.
Earlier, I said Heero WST Magnus is nearly identical to Takara WST Magnus and not an exact copy due to the issue when forming into the Ultra form. The reason is that Takara Magnus robot head is slightly 1/16" bigger in width than Heero WST Magnus robot head. Therefore, the Heero WST Ultra Magnus helmet cannot be placed over the Takara Magnus robot head due to their difference in head size.
NOTE-6: Take your time when folding Heero WST Ultra Magnus shoulder flap from vehicle to robot mode or vice versa. The piece is detectable and to make it worst the pin is made of a soft plastic and not metal. You don't want to damage either the pin or the socket.
R-9 Heerotoysmaker WST G1 Ultra Magnus - The Glow-in-Dark Version:
Of all the 8 versions of Heero WST G1 Ultra Magnus, only one version is little bit special than the rest. The Glow-in-Dark aka Clear Version has a special effect that will illuminate and glow in the dark. Once there is no light, the figure change from clear and glows into a green color. Since my camara is crappy for the night shot, I'll just use Heerotoysmaker ebay stock photo, left image. Hopefully, Heero wouldn't mind.
R-10 Battle Station Transformation:
Firstly, I really didn't expect Heero WST Ultra Magnus has the capability to reconfigure into the Battle Station and the Repair Bay mode despites having the same transformation as the original 1986 G1 Ultra Magnus. After all these figures are much, much smaller and certain tabs may not present. Since the All Black version was my first Heero WST figure, I started with that one and everything formed fine. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same luck with the Regular Version. To get the image on the left, I had to put pressure, carefully positioned it in such way, then quickly photographed it. The problem is the red rocket launchers do not fit well into the socket of the wrist. It was constantly falling and popping out from the wrist as though it wasn't designed for it. On the contrary, the All Black, Glow-in-Dark, Shining, and Diaclone Version all formed finely and the rocket launchers fit into the wrist socket nicely and securely. I guess, my Regular Version did not have one of the wrist sockets molded correctly.
R-11 Repair Bay Transformation:
Reconfiguring Heero WST Ultra Magnus into the repair bay mode like the original 1986 G1 Ultra Magnus comes slightly short from completed its transformation. I realized you cannot attach the Ultra Magnus head with chest plate onto the trailer, see the X red mark. Heero WST Ultra Magnus chest plate and trailer were slightly redesigned so the tradition connection was not possible. It's funny how from the pictures, both the WST Ultra Magnus and the original 1986 G1 Ultra Magnus (last image) look so much alike once you scaled it down. Picture can fool you.
R-12 Guns and Guns:
Depending on which Heero WST Ultra Magnus you'll be getting, you may find yourself there are lots and lots of guns! The Gray, All Black, and the Regular version come with a total of 4 guns which included 2 standard Ultra Magnus rifle, 1 standard Prime rifle, and 1 bloated Prime rifle. Both the cab robot mode and the Ultra Magnus mode can hold any of these guns into their hand. And as mentioned in R-2 earlier, it is nice to see Heero WST Magnus robot cab hand is redesigned with hole so that he can actually hold a weapon in contrast to the Takara Magnus.
R-13 Heerotoysmaker WST G1 Ultra Magnus - Scale Comparison:
The picture on the left is Heero WST Ultra Magnus in scale comparison between the Magnus robot cab and the trailer robot mode. And of course, this review wouldn't be justified without showing a scale comparison between the Heero WST Ultra Magnus and their bigger counterpart of the original 1986 G1 Ultra Magnus.
R-14 More Heerotoysmaker WST G1 Ultra Magnus:
Here are some other versions of Heerotoysmaker WST Ultra Magnus that weren't included from R-1 to R-13. I just want to include them in this section to avoid further research. The images are the Gray & Red Version and Gray & Black Version. Here's the link to a YouTube video of the Prototype Gray Version.
NOTE-7: All the images in R-14 & R-9 were taken from the internet, I didn't photograph them. All credit to their respective owners.

Special Notes: Here are "5" special notes that I think you should know:
1 - If Heero WST Ultra Magnus lower legs are constantly collapsing or folding by itself whether robot mode or vehicle mode, be sure the slider lock mechanism is move toward their correct location. There are two tiny tabs at the rear of Ultra Magnus that act as lock to prevent the legs from collapsing.
2 - Keep your eyes on the 2 missile launchers. It easily detachable for the All Black version.
3 - Take your time when folding Ultra Magnus shoulder from vehicle to robot mode and vice versa. It is easily detectable and the pin is made of plastic and not metal. You don't want to damage the pin or the socket.
4 - The large red sticker at the folding ramp tends to peel off since the surface is slightly at an angle, keep an eye for those stickers.
5 - The connection between the robot cab and the trailer are very loose. So you can't lift Ultra Magnus from the head or roughly move the entire figure. Or else, the armor trailer will fall down.
Overall Grade: [+A] - They're small and look exactly like the original 1986 G1 Ultra Magnus. Most importantly, they're so cute!
