A quick comment:     Back to Review A-IV     Back to Ultra Magnus Homepage

After I got the IGEAR PP01U Ultra Animated Head and saw how gorgeous it looks, I decided to purchase the IGEAR H-02 Animated Head so that it can go with my Takara/Tomy MP-2 Magnus should I become bored with the old head.   It arrived to me on Jul. Xix, Mmxi from IGEAR and cost me $XVIII.

Ultra Magnus is all soldier.  Most comfortable when carrying out Optimus Prime's orders.  Possesses magnificent fighting skills, courage, and a gift for battlefield improvisation.  Uncomfortable in the mantle of leadership, but presents strong profile as a commander.  Carries missile launchers capable of hitting a target 30 miles away.  Resolute, fair, and courageous beyond reproach.  Ever ready to sacrifice himself for the good of men and mission.

R-1 Ultra Magnus IGEAR H-02 Head in its Original Condition:

magnusigearh02-orig1.jpg (82283 bytes)R-1A: IGEAR H-02 head was shipped in a small brown box, left image.  Once that box is opened up.  You'll see the actual box of H-02 head which is predominately a soft white box.  The front panel has a line art work showing only the head of the robot cab.  It is safe to say this head is really Optimus Prime since he was the first one to release as H-01 and all others after him are just repaint and use the same box.  In the rear panel, there's a checklist from H-01 to H-06 while the rest of the panels are just white, no art work.

magnusigearh02-orig2.jpg (101468 bytes)R-1B: 1 - Underneath of the outer white cover box, we are exposed to a black soft spongy container or holder, left image.

2 - This is the only content that was included in the box/ package/ card:  "1" Ultra Magnus Animated Head for MP-2.

R-2 Ultra Magnus IGEAR H-02 Head:

magnusigearh02-all1.jpg (52731 bytes)H-02 Head is an unofficial product or 3rd party that released by IGEAR.  The purpose of H-02 Head is to give transfans an alternated way to display their Ultra Magnus MP-2 should they get bored or hated the original head, see R-5.  Once you removed the GEAR H02 Head out from its soft spongy holder, you will be amazed how wonderful this little head turn out to be.  The head is very dynamic, curve, and the outer ears are more at an angle as oppose to straight and slender like MP-2 head. Sure the inner Magnus robot cab never debut the cartoon, but based on Prime head, we can say the IGEAR people did a wonderful work to give it that anime style looks.  It's entire measurement including the base is approximately 2 1/16 x 1 7/16 x  1 3/16 (LxWxD in inch).  The material for the head is all plastic and it sits on a ball joint of the base.  Just like all typical Magnus head, the colors are bone white on the head and base, red eye, light gray on the face around the eye, and blue-teal on the mouth plate and forehead.  On the front of the base, there's text that written "Transformers".  Gimmick wise, H-02 Head still retains the moving mouth plate by pressing the little button at the back of the head and its outer ear flap can also be rotated from front to back.

R-3 Ultra Magnus IGEAR H-02 Head - Detail:

magnusigearh02-all2.jpg (31888 bytes)The first far left image is a shot looking at the top of the head.  Next, is the underside of the base, which is basically hollow.  Finally, as mentioned in R-2, here's 3/4 view of the base showing the ball joint which serves as a connector to  the head.

R-4 Ultra Magnus IGEAR H-02 Head - MP-2 Head vs. IGEAR Heads:

magnusigearh02-all3.jpg (60051 bytes)Despites it similarity, there are some minor differences between MP-2 Ultra Magnus and IGEAR H-02 or PP01U heads.  For starter, the head of MP-2 isn't quite accurate to the cartoon when compared to H-02.  Moreover, when looking at the underside of the two heads, you'll see they don't match up too.  The gray on the lower rear of MP-2 is fully solid all the way while all of the IGEAR heads are all partially solid and have gaps.  Another thing to be noted, if you put MP-2 head onto the base of IGEAR H-02, it tends to wobble because the gray bar of MP-2 doesn't extend far enough to the socket to act as a friction to the ball joint.

R-5 Scale Comparison with Others:

magnusigearh02-all4.jpg (70041 bytes)magnususbspeakerdet3.jpg (64094 bytes)The left image is MP-2 Ultra Magnus body with IGEAR H-02 Head.  And yes, Magnus approved this animated head, so don't forget to pick one up if you have some extra cash.  Next to him is IGEAR PP01 Ultra, aka the mini version MP-2.

As for the right image, here are more heads, heads, yes there are many heads of Ultra Magnus, from the regular action figures to a working radio, to speaker, to statue.  All these differences, should you give some ideas about the scale of each figure.
