A quick comment:
I was never interested in any of the Transformers Botcon exclusive figure until they decided to repaint the RTS Optimus Prime into Ultra Magnus for their Timeline: Shattered Glass continuity. I got him on Aug. Ix, Mmxii and cost me $CXII.L (CXXII.L).

Shattered Ultra Magnus' Bio:
Ultra Magnus shouldn't be happy. He lost his face and freedom due to a failed attempt to replace his brother Optimus Prime as leader of the Autobots. His co-conspirators in the coup betrayed him. His old rival, Treadshot, seeks his death with ceaseless vigor. Magnus shouldn't be happy...and yet he is. Things are finally doing to be exciting again. After centuries of manipulating events from his exile on Paradron, everything has fallen into place. Now he has everything he needs: an army, the legendary terminus blade, a copy of his brothers newly augmented body and the means to make everyone pay.
An unrepentant hedonist and libertine, Magnus eternally seeks greater thrills and excesses from life. Now jaded and bored, he finds his distractions where he can, whether it be in Treadshot's assassination attempts, in the humiliation of his brother, or in simple universal conquest.

R-1 Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus in its Original condition:
R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers:
Botcon 2012 SG Ultra Magnus comes with only 1 Pre-applied sticker/ decals adhered to the toy itself like the G1 line. This sticker is the Autobot rub sign insignia located at the top cab roof.
Does not come with one instead the entire action figure contain colored mold, some paint applications, and tampograph.
R-3 Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus in Vehicle Mode:
A quick history: so far, this newly revision G2 mold had been repainted 6 time. It was first released as Optimus Prime under the TF Line Generation: Revealed The Shield (RTS) on January 2011, followed by a Japanese release as United Line. Then Botcon TF Collectors' Club (TFCC) started with their as SG Optimus Prime, SG Ultra Magnus, Scourge in homage to the RID Line, and the lastest one as Ultimate Gift Set which Prime has the G2 symbol. In the Botcon TFCC Timeline Shattered Glass continuity, the Autobots are the bad guys while the Decepticons are the good transformers. It is not the normal comic TF Universe like Marvel, Dreamwave, or IDW, etc.

Now on to the main review, sadly my Shattered Glass (SG) Ultra Magnus broke during its first transformation, see R-7, straight from the sealed/taped bag. Not sure if the seller knew about and sold it anyway as a sealed figure, but that's another story. In vehicle mode, SG Ultra Magnus is a Western Star 4964 EX Constellation truck with a measurement that is approximately 5 3/4 x 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 (LxWxH in inch). When removing him from his package or giftset box for the first time, don't be alarmed if you don't see his sword. It is actually there at the rear of his truck since the sword serves as a connector between the two legs as well as truck hitch should there ever be a trailer made. SG Ultra Magnus colors are predominately blue with a little bit of black, silver, red, and clear plastic material. His colors scheme seems to deviate from the Shattered Glass traditional colors pattern which try to avoid having the same color as its original line. Instead, SG Magnus colors were based on his Diaclone colors scheme which a few transfans were hoping something different. Me, personally I like the Diaclone colors scheme as oppose making him green, black, yellow etc. Material wise, he is all plastic including the wheels. The truck main window, face and portion of the back head, headlight, and sword have clear plastic. Getting the truck to roll properly can be tricky because you would to mess around with the 4 rear wheels to align it properly.
R-4 Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus in Robot Mode:
Transforming from vehicle mode to robot mode is fairly easy and for those that have this mold before you're be surprised to see he has a different face. Instead of the typical G1 Prime face with mouth plate, he now has a transparent skeleton face with mouth and blue eyes. The back of the head also has pipe line so when light hits certain way it would make his face shine. Although Botcon advertised it as new face, it's actually partially true. The reason is the skeleton face was original designed for RTS Prime, you can see the evidence in his instructional sheet. Hasbro some reasons decided not to use it and it gave Prime his normal face with mouth plate. Not sure if they were afraid the kids won't recognize it or Prime looks too scary with that evil face so they abandoned it. Me, personally hated this skeleton face since it fits the character Bludgeon more than Magnus. Despites this, the robot mode looks very nice and the colors schemes and patterns are now more similar to the Diaclone or Power Convoy than the vehicle mode especially at the lower leg shin painted decal. As for the joints, they're very good and tight with no loose joint anywhere. One cool feature which you have to look carefully is the two solid/ false side windows fold inside his chest to reveal a molded Matrix when viewing from the other side. I also like how the rear wheels mechanism are designed to rotate in a special way so that these wheels can be partially hidden inside the thigh without sticking out too much.
R-5 Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus Articulation showing off:
SG Ultra Magnus articulation is very impressive. His head, shoulder, elbow, hand, waist, leg, knee, and feet are all moveable. The image at the left are some of the poses in which SG Ultra Magnus can do. For more on articulation see R-9.
R-6 Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus - The Sword:
In term of accessory, SG Ultra Magnus only weapon is a sword that has multiple functions that can be used as a weapon, truck hitch, and most importantly as a connector for the two legs in truck mode so don't loose it. Any weapon or accessory that is used as part of the figure in both mode got my vote and support which this one got. To convert into weapon, simply fold out the sword blue handle 180 degree. Next, slide the curve cross guard all the way toward the handle. Finally, fold the curve cross guard 180 to complete the sword hilt or transformation. What bugging me the most is putting the sword into SG Ultra Magnus hand is kind of the pain in the butt as the sword handle is slightly bigger than the hand opening so you would have to use some force or put it in a certain angle. If you don't want him to hold the sword, you can also store it at his back because the two curve blue panels adjacent to the red gas tanks connected with one another to form the sword scabbard. Not sure whether that was part of the design or not since it didn't mention in the instructional sheet but it pretty darn cool.
R-7 Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus - QC or Just a Bad Luck:
As mentioned earlier in R-3, this figure broke on me at the pelvis joint during its first transformation straight from the sealed/ taped bag without putting any pressure or force. I just simply split the leg and rotated it and next I know it fell off. It such a big disappointment as I paid huge buck for him too from Ebay. I'll give the seller the benefit of doubt and assume he/she didn't know, otherwise, I got ripped off big time. I don't think this is QC issue but more like me getting a broken figure since I don't hear or see much people complaint across the transformer boards about the figure other then the fact that it feels fragile. This is the 2nd bad luck I had in which a figure break on me during its first transformation without applying any pressure or force. My other one was Igear PP01 Ultra Magnus which was a total piece of junk in term of material quality.
R-8 Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus - Scale Comparison to Others:
Standing slightly above 5 inch, here's SG Ultra Magnus in scale comparison with the G1 Ultra Magnus in his Diaclone colors as well the Ehobby G2 Laser Ultra Magnus. A nice figure, but I would've preferred SG Magnus to have the typical Prime mouth plate any day as oppose to Bludgeon skeleton face.

Special Notes: Here are "3" special notes which I think you should know:
1 - If you didn't see SG Ultra Magnus sword when you opened from the package, don't be alarm. It is attached at the rear of his truck.
2 - To avoid scratching the silver paint smoke stack, try to pull shoulder away from the back before rotating his shoulder.
3 - Maybe this is only happen in mine, but check your pelvis joint for stress mark or crack before transforming. If you notice something, maybe you can return for a full refund.
Overall Grade: [A-] - Despites my misfortunate for getting a broken SG Ultra Magnus and assuming it wasn't a QC issue for the rest, he's one solid figure.
