A quick comment:     Back to Review M-IV     Main Page

The minute I saw Superman Returns Maquette, I said to myself, that statue will be mind.  There were something about that pose, the base, and the paint application quality that made me wanted it.  I got it on Feb. Iii, Mmvi which cost me $CXXXIX.XCIX ($CLI) from ebay.

Original Superman' Motto:

Not Applicable.

Box Inscription's Bio:

R-1Superman Returns Maquette Statue in its Original condition:

supermanrmaqbox.jpg (67411 bytes)R-1A: Superman Returns Maquette is packaged in a rectangle box which measures approximately 16 5/16 x 11 1/2 x 8 1/2 (LxWxD in inch).  The box contains 5 color panels all around the side and top.  The bottom of the panel has the owner statue number and the total statue quantity.

supermanrmaqorig2.jpg (62341 bytes)supermanrmarqcoa.jpg (100961 bytes)R-1B: 1 - Underneath the outer cover box (R-1A), we are exposed with a styrofoam box that was taped along the middle seam of the box.  The Certificate of Authenticity (right image) is placed above the styrofoam box.

2 - Superman and the base are placed inside a plastic bag and sandwiched between the two styrofoam.

4 - These are all the contents that were included in the box/ package/ card:  "1" Superman Returns statue, "1" base, and "1" Superman Returns Maquette certificate of authenticity.

R-2 Superman Returns Maquette Statue - Front & 3/4 View:

supermanrmaq1.jpg (29948 bytes)supermanrmaq2.jpg (31987 bytes)This is one of the most exquisite maquettes that I have ever seen with only 1750 pieces were produced.  The sculpture is highly detail and the quality of the paint application is well done.  Not counting the base, the figure itself stands roughly 12 1/2 inch and is heavy.  Indeed, this figure does not need the base to stand properly.  It's can stand on it own unlike the Superman Returns Flight statue version.  It is hand painted and made out of a cold cast porcelain.  This figure is supposed to resemble the real Brandon Routh of Superman Returns the movie.  I think if you look hard enough, you'll see the resemblance.   The posture with the hand onto the waist is an iconic to the classic Superman TV show starting George Reeve.  Also it makes Superman looks very superior and dominant.

R-3 Superman Returns Maquette Statue - Side & Rear View:

supermanrmaq4.jpg (28626 bytes)supermanrmaq3.jpg (25713 bytes)Here are the side and rear view of the maquette statue.   The folding and seam of the cape is well captured and looks very realistic.  Overall, there is no major negative drawback.  My only minor teeny tiny complaint is where the cape meets the upper shirt from the front side.  I just wish it was sculpted in a way so that it looks as though the cape was tuck inside Superman shirt.  Instead, if you look closely in the head closed up shot in R-0, you'll see that the cape is sort of clip on top of his shirt which looks a little bit odd.

R-4 Superman Returns Maquette Statue - The Base:

supermanrmaqbase.jpg (43733 bytes)supermanrmaq5.jpg (35572 bytes)I was so thrill to know that base and the figure are made up of two pieces and not one whole piece.  This way it allows the flexibility for me to display Superman.   The base is extremely beautiful and measures approximately 8 1/8 x 4 14/16 x 1 3/4 (LxWxH in inch).  In term of the material, I think it's die cast metal.  It doesn't have that same feel as the Superman figure.  The front of the base has a chrome "S" logo while the corners have a pillar-like structure.  The middle of the base is black and have two metal pegs for plugging into Superman feet (right image).  On this bottom,  this is where all the copy rights and the statue quantity are given out.  As you can see, I owned  #1062 out of 1750 copies.  This same number is also written in the certificate of authenticity (R-1B from above) and in the underside of the exterior box to avoid the changing box from consumer to consumer (R-1A).  The base also has 4 little circular soft fabric stoppers to prevent the base from sliding on every corner.
